Casual School Social Worker

About the role

The Halton District School Board is seeking qualified Casual Social Workers to join a temporary pool that supports schools across Burlington, Halton Hills, Oakville, and Milton. Successful candidates will provide short‑term individual and group counselling, case management, and support to students, families, and school staff.

Key responsibilities

• Offer problem‑solving and consultation services to develop supportive strategies for student success.
• Provide culturally responsive, anti‑racist, and anti‑oppressive support to students, families, and schools.
• Deliver counselling, anger management, social skills, conflict resolution, and life‑skill programs.
• Support newcomers, refugees, and international students during their transition to school.
• Assist with bullying prevention, violence threat risk assessment, and restorative practices.

Required profile

• Master’s Degree in Social Work.
• Member in good standing of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Reliable transportation.
• Vulnerable sector check and criminal background clearance.

Required skills

• Knowledge of local and regional community resources.
• Experience with crisis management and conflict resolution.
• Understanding of bullying prevention and restorative practices.
