Carpenter – Hospital Facilities Management

About the role

Black & McDonald’s Facilities Management & Operations (FMO) team is growing! The Carpenter role is based at the Teck Acute Care Centre (TACC) hospital in Vancouver and reports to the Facility Manager, providing construction, repair and maintenance services for the facility.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and deliverables.
• Perform material take‑offs, prepare quotations and order materials.
• Fit and install trim items such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware.
• Maintain, repair and renovate wooden structures throughout the hospital.
• Assist other maintenance trades and perform additional duties, including changing filters.
• Plan and execute work in accordance with corporate safety policies and provincial regulations.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience as a carpenter.
• Red Seal certification or equivalent (asset).
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work safely with minimal supervision.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Physical ability to lift up to 30 kg and work on ladders or scaffolds.
• Pass RCMP Criminal Record Check and comfortable working in a hospital environment.
