Carpenter – Construction Projects

About the role

Hefty Construction Ltd. is seeking a motivated carpenter to join its team in Victoria, BC. The role involves working on a variety of construction sites, delivering high‑quality wood and steel structures while adhering to building codes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare layouts in conformance with building codes and operate CADD software.
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join wood, wood substitutes and lightweight steel.
• Build foundations, install floor beams, lay sub‑flooring and erect walls and roof systems.
• Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware.
• Schedule and coordinate work on sites, supervise apprentices and other workers.
• Estimate costs and material requirements and maintain/renovate structures.

Required profile

• Secondary school graduation certificate.
• 1 to less than 7 months of relevant experience.
• Ability to work at various locations and on shift schedules.
• Participation in youth employment programs and openness to on‑the‑job training.

Required skills

• Proficiency with measuring tools.
• Experience using CADD and other computer software systems.
