About the role
The Stewart Blusson Quantum Matter Institute (Blusson QMI) at UBC seeks a Business Development Manager to drive revenue growth and expand commercial use of its advanced nanofabrication and research services. You will act as the primary liaison between the institute and industry partners, promoting cutting‑edge quantum technologies.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and acquire new clients for fee‑for‑service nanofabrication and research projects.
- Develop and nurture partnerships with industry, government, and academic stakeholders across Canada.
- Lead full‑cycle contract negotiations, including dual‑use defence and national‑security opportunities.
- Match grant opportunities with Blusson QMI principal investigators and manage related applications.
- Administer the NRC IRAP Contributions to Organizations (CtO) program for SMEs.
- Organise and represent the institute at industry events and campus workshops.
Required profile
- Proven experience in business development or sales within a high‑tech or research environment.
- Strong understanding of quantum‑related technologies and nanofabrication services.
- Ability to manage complex contracts and grant‑matching processes.
- Excellent communication and networking skills with external partners.
