Building Caretaker

About the role

The Building Caretaker ensures that apartment, condominium, office and retail spaces are clean, safe and well‑maintained. Working in all weather conditions, you will perform routine cleaning, minor repairs and supervise other workers with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, scrub and wax hallways, floors and stairs; operate industrial vacuum cleaners and power sweepers.
• Empty trash containers, clean and disinfect bathrooms and fixtures.
• Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing and electrical systems; coordinate major repairs with tradespersons.
• Perform minor repairs on appliances and oversee contractors for larger maintenance tasks.
• Supervise other cleaning staff and ensure work is completed on schedule.

Required profile

• Secondary school graduation or equivalent experience.
• 2–3 years of cleaning or facilities maintenance experience.
• Physically capable of handling loads up to 23 kg, bending, crouching and working under pressure.
• Dependable, organized, flexible and able to communicate effectively in English.

Required skills

• Operation of industrial vacuum cleaners and power sweepers.
• Use of carpet cleaning machines, waxing machines and steam cleaners.
• Basic HVAC (heating, cooling, ventilation) maintenance.
• Basic plumbing and electrical repair skills.
• Proficiency with power tools and power lawn mowers.
