Brake Operator – Custom Truck Body Manufacturing

About the role

The Brake Operator works in the Brake and Shear Department of a custom truck‑body manufacturer, ensuring safe, accurate production of doors, shelving packages and body panels for a variety of utility and service vehicles.

Key responsibilities

• Follow work orders from start to finish with minimal supervision.
• Operate brake, shear and cut‑off saws to cut and shape components.
• Read and interpret shop and engineering drawings to determine cut sizes.
• Measure, calculate, and verify dimensions using tape measures and engineering data.
• Document material usage and scrap, label parts and skids, and stack components for the next operation.
• Assist other fabricating operations as needed and adhere to safety practices.

Required profile

• High School diploma or GED.
• Reliable attendance and ability to work safely at all times.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Positive attitude and good communication skills.
• Physical capability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 lb and wear required PPE.

Required skills

• Brake, shear and cut‑off saw operation.
• Reading tape measures accurately.
• Interpreting engineering and shop drawings.
• Calculating cut sizes from existing parts.
