Boat Operator

About the role

ConeTec is seeking a Boat Operator to safely run marine vessels in tailings environments and support geotechnical field projects in Fort McMurray. The role combines vessel operation, equipment set‑up and routine maintenance while ensuring crew safety and compliance with all safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate specialized marine vessels and related equipment safely and efficiently.
• Assist engineers and technicians with CPT, sampling systems, geophysical instruments and other in‑situ testing gear.
• Coordinate crane contractors for safe lifts of marine equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance, repairs and upkeep of vessels and associated tools.
• Support mobilization and demobilization of equipment in hard‑to‑access sites.
• Report safety incidents, near‑misses and equipment issues promptly.

• Willingness to work in remote, outdoor environments.

Required skills

• Marine vessel and equipment operation.
• Experience with CPT (Cone Penetration Testing) equipment.
• Use of sampling systems and geophysical instruments.
• Coordination of crane lifts and heavy‑equipment handling.
• Routine equipment maintenance and basic mechanical fabrication.
