Backend Software Engineer

About the role

eBay is looking for a Backend Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain core services that power seller and marketplace experiences for millions of users worldwide. You will work with cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions that enable sellers to grow their businesses on the platform.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enhance backend services, APIs, and applications supporting core marketplace functionality.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and fellow engineers throughout the software development lifecycle, from design to deployment and operational support.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Ensure solutions are reliable, maintainable, and performant by leveraging appropriate caching, messaging, and database technologies.

Required profile

• BS/EE/CS degree (or equivalent advanced degree) with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong computer‑science fundamentals and a growth mindset.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving abilities.
