Backend Software Developer

About the role

The Backend Software Developer will join Rexall’s Loyalty Software Development team to design, build, test, and document backend components for the Be Well Loyalty and Healthcare Platform. Reporting to the Loyalty Software Development Manager, the role focuses on delivering stable, secure, and high‑performing services that support millions of loyalty program users.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using ASP.NET 8.0, ASP.NET Core, and the ASP.NET Framework.
• Implement and improve CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployments.
• Create and optimise database schemas, queries, and stored procedures in SQL Server, MySQL, and MongoDB.
• Integrate internal and third‑party systems such as pharmacy, loyalty, and marketing platforms.
• Lead code reviews, architectural discussions, and mentor junior developers.
• Own system stability, performance, scalability, and coordinate with QA and stakeholder teams.
• Perform troubleshooting, debugging, and production issue resolution with minimal downtime.
• Conduct regular penetration testing, vulnerability scans, and ensure compliance with data security and privacy standards for PHI, PII, and PCI.

Required profile

• Strong background in backend development for large‑scale, user‑facing platforms.
• Experience working with cross‑functional teams including product owners, business analysts, solution architects, and DevOps.
• Ability to translate business requirements and user stories into efficient, scalable code.
• Commitment to code quality, security best practices, and continuous improvement.
