Back-end Software Engineer

About the role

Manulife is looking for a self‑motivated Back‑end Software Engineer to design, build and maintain APIs and services that power millions of users across native Android and iOS apps. You will work with modern cloud and DevOps tools to deliver high‑quality, reliable code that directly impacts the customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement APIs and backend services using Kotlin, Java, Spring Boot and Spring Security.
• Apply creative problem‑solving to translate software designs into production‑ready architecture.
• Write, unit‑test, and integrate new features as defined by the Product Owner.
• Follow Agile principles, update daily progress in Jira, and participate in Kanban ceremonies.
• Contribute automated tests, CI/CD pipelines and documentation (deployment, runbooks, etc.).

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of back‑end development experience.
• Self‑motivated, eager to deliver value and continuously improve.
• Comfortable working in an Agile, collaborative environment.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
