Automotive Service Advisor

About the role

The Service Advisor is a customer‑focused professional who ensures a positive service experience by providing accurate estimates, clear explanations, and continuous updates throughout the repair process.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers promptly, determine their needs and record vehicle information.
• Conduct a walk‑around inspection, capture concerns and create detailed work orders.
• Prepare cost and time estimates and assign jobs to technicians.
• Explain technical issues and recommended repairs in understandable language.
• Track vehicle progress, update customers on completion times and maintain high CSI ratings.
• Follow‑up after service with phone calls and encourage completion of the GM Service Survey.

Required profile

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational abilities.
• Ability to translate technical information into customer‑friendly language.
• Strong time‑management skills, especially during high‑volume periods.
• Adaptable, creative problem‑solver who works well both independently and in a team.

Required skills

• 1‑2 years experience as a service consultant or advisor in the automotive industry.
• Technical vehicle knowledge and ability to produce accurate estimates.
• Mathematical aptitude for cost calculations.
• Valid BC driver’s licence (class 5) with a clean driving record.
