Associate Director, Student Financial Management

About the role

The Associate Director, Student Financial Management provides university‑wide strategic oversight of all processes related to student tuition and fees. This senior position influences the management of over $450 million in annual tuition assessments, supporting more than 60,000 registered students across UBC’s Vancouver and Okanagan campuses.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategic management of the tuition life‑cycle, including assessment, student accounts, accounting recognition, reporting, and tuition allocation.
• Oversee the $450 million annual tuition and fee assessment, ensuring alignment with the university’s operating budget.
• Provide senior‑level accounting functions and financial leadership within Enrolment Services.
• Support the Director with financial guidance, strategic planning, and oversight of multiple specialized student service units.
• Coordinate accounting, payroll, and administrative support for International Student Initiative and Go Global units.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in senior accounting and strategic financial management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large‑scale tuition and fee processes in a higher‑education environment.
• Strong leadership skills to guide and support multiple administrative units.
• Experience overseeing significant budgets and financial reporting.
