Associate Director – Student Academic Support

About the role

The Associate Director, Student Academic Support leads the management of complex graduate student cases, ensuring academic progress, well‑being, and successful navigation of financial, personal, or health‑related challenges. This senior position serves as the primary liaison for students, faculty, and staff, guiding resolution from initial consultation through to outcome.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a large, complex caseload of graduate student advising matters.
• Act as the main point of contact for students, staff, and faculty on sensitive graduate‑student issues.
• Gather and assess detailed information, formulate intervention plans, and provide policy interpretation and referrals.
• Develop and support action plans in collaboration with relevant parties and support professionals.
• Provide direction on administrative actions required to resolve complex cases.
• Serve as a senior resource for the university’s response to highly sensitive and consequential matters.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies, initiatives, and policies that promote graduate‑student wellness.

Required profile

• Senior professional experience in graduate‑student advising or related academic support.
• Strong knowledge of university academic policies and procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to handle complex, confidential, and sensitive situations.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills with students, faculty, and staff.
