About the role

The School of Computer Science at McGill University seeks an Assistant Professor to join its faculty in the emerging field of quantum computing. The appointment is tenure‑track, with an expected start date of August 1, 2027, and offers the opportunity to develop an independent research program at the intersection of quantum computing and computer science.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct high‑impact research in quantum algorithms, cryptography, information theory, programming languages, compilation, and hybrid architectures.
• Secure competitive external funding to support research activities and graduate students.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise theses, and mentor students.
• Contribute to departmental, university, and professional service activities.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science (or near completion) with demonstrated expertise in quantum computing.
• Strong publication record and evidence of research leadership.
