Assistant Professor (Clinical) – Palliative Care, Physiatry

About the role

The McGill University Department of Medicine invites applications for a full‑time Contract Academic Staff position at the rank of Assistant Professor (Clinical) in the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, focusing on Palliative Care. The role is based at the McGill University Health Centre and combines clinical service, teaching, and research responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide inpatient and ambulatory palliative care consultations at MUHC sites, including Royal Victoria Hospital and Montreal General Hospital, and participate in on‑call coverage.
• Contribute to the weekly Cancer Pain Clinic and potentially to the Alan Edwards Pain Management Unit.
• Deliver both didactic and clinical teaching to medical students, residents and fellows, following either a Clinician‑Teacher or Clinician‑Educator pathway.
• Engage in academic activities such as research, supervision of trainees, and participation in university committees.
• Participate in service activities within the department and the broader university community.

Required profile

• MD degree with specialty training and certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
• Eligibility for licensure in Quebec and certification by the Collège des médecins du Québec.
• At least one additional year of clinical training in Palliative Care or Pain Management.
• Preferred bilingual proficiency in French and English, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills.
