Assistant Maintenance Manager

About the role

The Hampton Inn & Suites Kelowna is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Manager to support the Maintenance Manager in keeping the hotel’s buildings, grounds, pools, equipment and public areas in top condition. This onsite role works across both the Hampton Inn & Suites and the Four Points by Sheraton properties at Kelowna Airport.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Maintenance Manager with daily operations, ensuring safety, efficiency and proactive service.
• Supervise, coach, schedule and discipline maintenance staff; participate in hiring.
• Respond to emergencies such as power outages, fires, floods or earthquakes with an organized plan.
• Oversee preventive maintenance programs, ensuring all work orders are completed on schedule.
• Manage inventory of supplies, process purchases and maintain accurate receipts.
• Coordinate with external contractors, suppliers and subcontractors for repairs and projects.
• Monitor maintenance costs, labour and material expenses, and report major repairs with recommendations.
• Act as the Maintenance Manager’s backup, attending meetings, preparing schedules and handling work orders when needed.

• Experience in hiring, supervising and mentoring maintenance personnel.
• Ability to prioritize work orders and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with other departments and external vendors.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
