Assistant General Manager – Hotel Operations

About the role

The Assistant General Manager will anticipate guest and employee needs, exceed expectations, and drive profitability and service excellence. Supporting the General Manager, this role oversees daily hotel operations and upholds the brand’s vision, mission and culture.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the General Manager in managing all aspects of hotel operations.
• Develop and communicate objectives aligned with corporate vision and implement related strategies.
• Monitor operational efficiencies to ensure profitability within operating and capital budgets.
• Implement marketing initiatives that reflect hotel branding.
• Maximize revenue per available room through yield management.
• Provide staff training and monitor its impact on service quality.
• Track customer satisfaction ratings and develop improvement plans.
• Recruit, hire and retain qualified employees to meet key objectives.
• Maintain high morale and provide leadership throughout the hotel.
• Prepare month‑end documentation, cash/credit card summaries and daily banking reports.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in the hotel industry.
• At least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
• Experience with budgeting and forecasting.
• High School Diploma or GED required; Hospitality Management diploma considered an asset.
• Strong written and verbal communication, customer service and interpersonal skills.
