Assistant Controller (13‑month contract)

About the role

Our client seeks an experienced Assistant Controller/Controller to join a 13‑month contract. The role will oversee day‑to‑day accounting, drive operational efficiencies, and provide strategic financial insight for a manufacturing business.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle accounting for a single entity, including month‑end close, reconciliations, accruals, and general ledger activity.
• Prepare single‑entity financial statements in accordance with IFRS standards.
• Oversee cash flow, expense, accounts receivable, and accounts payable functions.
• Support manufacturing accounting with a focus on inventory reporting and related reconciliations.
• Produce weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting packages and complete quarterly financial statement reporting using a standard template.
• Perform variance analysis and deliver strategic financial insight to senior leadership.
• Lead the external audit process and coordinate all audit deliverables.
• Manage minor intercompany transactions and chargebacks.
• Supervise two team members and ensure smooth day‑to‑day accounting operations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or senior‑level accounting leadership role.
• Hands‑on experience with full‑cycle accounting in a manufacturing environment.
• Solid understanding of IFRS reporting frameworks.
• Experience supervising or mentoring direct reports.
