Area Manager, Packaging

About the role

Lead a unionized packaging team at Labatt’s Edmonton brewery, driving production efficiency and safety while supporting the company’s heritage of quality beer brewing.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of unionized employees to optimize production efficiency.
• Develop and monitor production plans, inventories, and coordinate activities to meet schedules and targets.
• Maintain appropriate staffing levels, including coverage for absences and overtime.
• Identify improvement opportunities and implement solutions using management tools and methodologies.
• Follow plant optimization processes and drive departmental results.
• Troubleshoot process problems and guide maintenance and operators to solutions.
• Execute health and safety programs and enforce safety and quality standards in packaging operations.
• Manage relationships with union members and train, coach, and develop the workforce.
• Manage department resources and track performance via SAP.

Required profile

• University degree in Engineering, Science, Operations Management, or Supply Chain.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts (days, afternoons, nights).
• 1‑3 years experience as a supervisor in a unionized production environment.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and mechanical aptitude.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English; French is a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Experience with PowerBI.
• Experience with SAP (asset).
• Knowledge of packaging equipment (asset).
