Architectural Intern – Design & BIM Experience

About the role

Stantec’s Buildings team is seeking an enthusiastic Intern Architect to support project teams in delivering high‑performance, sustainable architecture. You will work closely with senior architects, contributing to design development, documentation, and coordination across a variety of building projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist on small to medium‑complexity projects, producing sketches, plans, elevations, sections and 3D renderings.
• Utilize BIM technologies to develop three‑dimensional building models.
• Participate in design critiques, pin‑ups and coordination meetings.
• Interpret and apply building codes and accessibility regulations.
• Prepare and revise architectural documentation throughout all project phases.
• Support bidding, negotiation, and preparation of addenda.
• Review shop drawings, submittals, respond to RFIs and generate site observation reports.
• Assist in the preparation and coordination of project specifications and quality control procedures.

Required profile

• Knowledge of accessibility codes and applicable building codes.
• Understanding of building construction systems, materials and industry standards.
• Familiarity with all phases of architectural document production.
• Ability to conduct space planning and develop floor plans, wall sections and details.
• Self‑critical approach to ensure accuracy and completeness of work.

Required skills

• BIM technologies (e.g., Revit)
