About the role
Scotiabank is seeking a motivated mid‑level Android Mobile Developer to design, develop, and maintain high‑quality Android applications. You will work in an Agile environment alongside Product, Design, Backend, and QA teams to deliver performant, scalable, and user‑friendly mobile solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and release Android applications across the full lifecycle.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Designers, and Backend teams to deliver features aligned with business goals.
- Implement scalable architecture using MVVM and Clean Architecture principles.
- Write clean, efficient, and testable code following best practices.
- Integrate RESTful APIs and third‑party SDKs.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous performance, usability, and reliability improvements.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
Required profile
- 3–5 years of Android development experience with production‑ready apps.
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin and/or Java.
- Deep knowledge of Android SDK, Jetpack components (LiveData, ViewModel, Room, Navigation), Coroutines, Flow, and Dependency Injection (Hilt/Dagger).
- Experience with RESTful APIs, Retrofit, unit testing (JUnit, Mockito), UI testing (Espresso), and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Bitrise).
- Understanding of Material Design, performance tuning, memory optimization, and app security.
- Experience designing modular, scalable architecture and leading small Android teams.
