About the role
The Food Allergy research program at BC Children’s Hospital Allergy Clinic is expanding and needs a dedicated Research Assistant/Technician to support multiple studies. You will work on patient registries, biological sample collection, and survey projects, providing essential support from participant consent to data management.
Key responsibilities
- Review eligibility of participants for food‑allergy research projects.
- Create, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for each study.
- Enter and verify data in REDCap, coordinating with clinical staff to resolve missing or unclear information.
- Answer phone calls and emails from participants, directing queries to appropriate personnel.
- Obtain informed consent (including e‑consent) from families.
- Cross‑check clinic schedules to align sample collection with participant visits.
- Collect biological samples (saliva, nose swabs) and distribute urine and stool kits.
- Provide study blood test requisitions and escort families to the clinical lab.
- Schedule study appointments and maintain participant communication.
Required profile
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow research protocols.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with families, clinicians, and research staff.
- Comfort working in a clinical environment and handling biological specimens.
