Allergy Research Assistant/Technician (Level 2)

About the role

The Food Allergy research program at BC Children’s Hospital Allergy Clinic is expanding and needs a dedicated Research Assistant/Technician to support multiple studies. You will work on patient registries, biological sample collection, and survey projects, providing essential support from participant consent to data management.

Key responsibilities

• Review eligibility of participants for food‑allergy research projects.
• Create, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for each study.
• Enter and verify data in REDCap, coordinating with clinical staff to resolve missing or unclear information.
• Answer phone calls and emails from participants, directing queries to appropriate personnel.
• Obtain informed consent (including e‑consent) from families.
• Cross‑check clinic schedules to align sample collection with participant visits.
• Collect biological samples (saliva, nose swabs) and distribute urine and stool kits.
• Provide study blood test requisitions and escort families to the clinical lab.
• Schedule study appointments and maintain participant communication.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow research protocols.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with families, clinicians, and research staff.
• Comfort working in a clinical environment and handling biological specimens.
