Advocacy Communications Specialist

About the role
The Canadian Cancer Society is seeking a Specialist in Advocacy Communications to join its Strategic Communications team. In this hybrid position you will craft compelling narratives that highlight the impact of the Society’s advocacy work and support the organization’s mission to improve cancer care across Canada.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive communications plans aligned with advocacy priorities.
- Create a variety of materials such as news releases, fact sheets, speeches, presentations, and digital content.
- Collaborate with internal advocacy, health policy, and mission teams to translate complex policy issues into clear, audience‑focused messages.
- Identify and package advocacy stories for multimedia storytelling.
- Assess communications performance and recommend innovative strategies.
- Plan and manage targeted media and public relations activities.
Required profile
- Proven experience in advocacy communications and media relations.
- Strong project‑management abilities and results‑orientation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse internal stakeholders.

What we offer
