Adult Psychiatrist – Rural Community Hospital

About the role

Two full‑time positions are available for adult psychiatrists to join a welcoming rural community in Nelson, British Columbia. You will work within a collaborative mental‑health team delivering innovative, integrated care across the lifespan.

Key responsibilities

• Provide urgent consultative support to Kootenay Lake Hospital’s medical/surgical units and emergency department.
• Collaborate with family practitioners to develop and implement a patient‑medical‑home model aligned with provincial mental‑health priorities.
• Participate in regional call services for Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, if desired.

Required profile

• New graduate or experienced psychiatrist willing to work in a rural setting.
• Team‑oriented professional comfortable collaborating with social workers, therapists, nurses and general practitioners.
• Interest in leadership development through Interior Health’s NAVIG8 Emerging Physician Leaders Program.

What we offer

• Compensation between $300,000‑$400,000 per year (CAD) plus MOCAP Level 2.
• Rural incentives such as retention premium, relocation funding ($9,000‑$15,000) and recruitment incentive ($15,000).
