Accounting Supervisor – Finance Support

About the role

The Accounting Supervisor leads the daily financial operations of the UBC Bookstore and Campus Mail, overseeing both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role manages a team of three financial processing staff and ensures accurate, timely processing of transactions in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise three financial processing staff, set daily priorities, and ensure deadlines are met.
• Oversee all Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities for the Bookstore and Campus Mail.
• Perform complex reconciliations between the Bookstore retail system and Workday.
• Review daily cash receipt reconciliations from multiple locations and verify supporting documentation.
• Prepare files for daily integration into Workday and audit vendor payment entries for three‑way matching.
• Ensure compliance with PSAS, CRA regulations, and UBC policies.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing performance feedback for the team.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising accounting or financial processing staff.
• Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.
• Familiarity with public sector accounting standards (PSAS) and CRA regulations.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills for complex reconciliations.
