Accountant – Finance Team

About the role

Fidus, a global high‑tech design firm, is looking for a detail‑oriented Accountant to join its finance team in Ottawa. The role involves handling day‑to‑day accounting operations, maintaining accurate records, and supporting month‑end and year‑end close processes in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Process accounts payable invoices, employee expense reports and vendor payments.
• Administer accounts receivable functions, including customer invoicing, payment application, collections and follow‑up.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare journal entries and ensure completeness of general ledger transactions.
• Execute month‑end and year‑end close activities, including account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Prepare financial reports and manage audit requests and documentation.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education in Accounting, Finance or a related field (or equivalent).
• Minimum three years of accounting experience in a similar role.
• Experience with month‑end close processes in a multi‑entity environment.
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial processes.
• Excellent organizational, time‑management and analytical abilities.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience with Salesforce (asset).
• Experience with ADP Workforce Now (asset).
• Familiarity with Certinia (asset).

• Annual base salary ranging from $70,000 to $85,000.
