Working Foreperson, Waste Services

About the role

The Working Foreperson for Waste Services leads front‑line crews in the collection of curbside waste, organics, yard waste and special items across the Town of Whitby. Reporting to the Supervisor of Waste Services, this position ensures safe, efficient operations while embodying the Town’s CARE values.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily waste collection routes, including curbside, organics, yard waste and special collections.
• Coordinate crew schedules, assign tasks, and monitor performance to meet service standards.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental policies, and municipal guidelines.
• Maintain communication with internal departments, external partners and elected officials.
• Assist with equipment inspections, minor repairs, and reporting of service issues.
