Working Foreperson, General Parks Services

About the role

The Working Foreperson, General Parks Services will lead daily park maintenance activities for the Town of Whitby, reporting to the Supervisor of Operations – Parks. This position plays a key part in fostering a collaborative, accountable, respectful, and engaged workplace while delivering essential services to the community.

Key responsibilities

• Demonstrate the Town’s CARE core values in all interactions with staff, elected officials, and external partners.
• Build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally to support the Parks department’s mission.
• Oversee and coordinate general park maintenance tasks, ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
• Report progress, issues, and recommendations to the Supervisor of Operations – Parks.
• Contribute to a positive corporate culture through daily leadership and teamwork.

Required profile

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage staff at all levels.
• Commitment to the Town’s values of collaboration, accountability, respect, and engagement.
• Experience in municipal or park maintenance environments is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid setting, balancing onsite and remote responsibilities.
