About the role

The Vice President, Public Affairs & National Policy will lead Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters' national advocacy agenda at a critical time for the manufacturing sector. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, this senior leader will shape policy, influence legislation, and elevate the organization’s public profile.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute an integrated strategy to influence federal legislation and regulatory initiatives.
• Serve as the primary spokesperson with government officials, media, and key stakeholders.
• Align national and regional priorities, guiding a multidisciplinary team toward measurable impact.
• Provide strategic counsel to the CEO and represent the organization at Board‑level discussions.
• Develop and maintain trusted relationships across federal politics, industry associations, and member organizations.

Required profile

• Senior public affairs leader with extensive experience in federal policy and advocacy.
• Proven ability to influence decision‑makers and represent a sector at the highest levels.
• Strong strategic thinking combined with execution excellence.
• Track record of building high‑performing teams and delivering results in dynamic environments.
• Deep understanding of issues affecting Canadian manufacturing.
