Training and Development Lead

About the role

The Human Resources group is seeking a Training and Development Lead to design, build, and manage high‑quality learning experiences for our workforce in Edmonton. Reporting to the Director of People Strategy, you will translate business needs into practical training programs that keep employees skilled, safe, and ready for future challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with internal stakeholders to identify training needs and define program goals.
• Design and deliver comprehensive training curricula, including presentations, manuals, videos, and online resources.
• Facilitate classroom and field training sessions using diverse instructional techniques.
• Oversee scheduling, logistics, and equipment for all training events.
• Administer the Learning Management System (LMS) and maintain accurate training records.
• Develop competency frameworks and career pathways across roles.
• Mentor Training Coordinators and collaborate with technical trainers and Apprenticeship Program Leads.
• Measure program effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and performance data, recommending improvements.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in training, instructional design, or related fields.
• Proven ability to create engaging learning materials and manage LMS platforms.
• Strong facilitation, communication, and presentation abilities.
• Excellent organizational and project‑management skills with high attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% across Canada and the United States.
