Teaching Assistant – Viral Pathogenesis & Host Defenses (Winter 2027)

About the role

The Department of Microbiology & Immunology at McGill University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for the Winter 2027 offering of MIMM 466 – Viral Pathogenesis and Host Defenses. The assistant will support the course instructor by managing assessment activities, facilitating student learning, and maintaining course records throughout the term.

Key responsibilities

• Grade short written answers in quizzes and exams following the prescribed answer format.
• Review course materials and exam content with students to clarify concepts.
• Enter grades accurately into the MyCourses learning management system.
• Assist with uploading and organizing course content on MyCourses.
• Organize and evaluate student presentations related to the course topics.

Required profile

• Knowledge of immunology and microbiology, including key research methods; completion of MIMM 324 and MIMM 466 is ideal.
• Effective communication skills in English; French proficiency is desirable.
• Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work on the McGill campus in Quebec.
• Ability to commit 45 hours of work per term (January 5 – April 30, 2027).
