About the role
The Department of Biomedical Engineering at McGill University’s Faculty of Medicine is seeking a Course Lecturer for the 2026‑2027 academic year to teach BMDE 653 – Patents in Biomedical Engineering, a core component of the Graduate Certificate in Translational Biomedical Engineering. The course provides an overview of intellectual property, patent processes, commercialization strategies and enforcement.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver lecture content and teaching materials for the course.
- Design assignments, tests and grading rubrics, and assess student performance.
- Facilitate classroom discussions and hold regular office hours to support student learning.
- Participate in curricular discussions and contribute to program development.
Required profile
- Experience drafting and prosecuting patents, including freedom‑to‑operate analysis, across multiple jurisdictions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Minimum five years of relevant professional experience.
- Fluency in English; French proficiency preferred.
