Teaching Assistant – Immunology Flow Cytometry Lab (Winter 2027)

About the role

The Department of Microbiology & Immunology at McGill University seeks a Teaching Assistant for the Laboratory in Immunology Flow Cytometry (MIMM 385) for the Winter 2027 term. The TA will support student learning by grading assessments, managing course content, and operating the flow cytometry equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Grade short written answers in quizzes and exams according to the prescribed format.
• Enter grades into a spreadsheet for record‑keeping.
• Assist with uploading course content and managing student questions/comments on the MyCourses platform.
• Operate the flow cytometer and optimize the flow cytometry component of the laboratory session.

Required profile

• Graduate‑level enrolment in Microbiology and Immunology or a related immunology‑focused program.
• Knowledge of immunology and microbiology, preferably having completed courses such as MIMM 211, 214, 314 or 385.
• Effective communication skills in English; French proficiency is desirable.
• Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work in Quebec.

Required skills

• Operation and optimization of flow cytometry instruments.
• Data entry and management using spreadsheet software (e.g., Excel).
• Use of the MyCourses learning management system.
