About the role
We are seeking a Sous‑chef to lead kitchen operations at Glo Restaurant & Lounge in Victoria, BC. The role involves overseeing food preparation, managing staff, and ensuring quality and safety standards for all service periods.
Key responsibilities
- Estimate supply quantities, costs and labour expenses.
- Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to kitchen staff.
- Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty dishes for events and daily service.
- Supervise cooks, recruit, hire and train kitchen personnel.
- Plan menus, ensure food quality, and accommodate dietary restrictions.
- Inspect kitchen areas and enforce health and sanitation regulations.
- Requisition food and kitchen supplies and arrange equipment purchases and repairs.
- Manage kitchen operations and schedule shifts.
Required profile
- 3–5 years of experience in a restaurant kitchen, preferably as a sous‑chef.
- Food Safety Certificate.
- Strong leadership, ability to work under pressure and multitask.
- Excellent oral communication and organizational skills.
