Skilled Welder – Full-time Permanent Position

About the role

We are looking for a skilled welder to join Superior Truck & Trailer Repair Services Ltd in Oakville. The role involves fabricating, repairing and inspecting metal components for trucks and trailers using a range of welding and cutting technologies. The position is full-time, permanent and based on-site.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret welding process specifications and read blueprints, drawings and manuals.
• Operate manual, semi‑automatic and fully automated welding equipment, as well as flame‑cutting and oxygen‑arc cutting machines.
• Examine welds to ensure they meet required standards and specifications.
• Fit, braze, torch‑straighten and shape metal using brakes, shears and bending machines.
• Determine weldability of various materials and operate hoisting/lifting equipment.
• Start up, shut down, adjust and monitor robotic welding production lines.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on welding, brazing and soldering equipment.

Required profile

• Secondary school graduation or equivalent experience.
• 2 to less than 3 years of welding experience, preferably in truck repair.
• Ability to handle loads up to 23 kg (50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
• Strong manual dexterity, hand‑eye coordination and attention to detail.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, repetitive‑task environment.

Required skills

• Resistance, spot and seam welding.
• Oxy‑acetylene welding (OAW).
• Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW).
• Gas tungsten arc welding (TIG) and gas metal arc welding (GMAW).
• Flux‑core arc welding (FCAW) and fusion welding.
• Brazing and soldering techniques.
• Robotic welding operation.
• Interpretation of CAD drawings and welding blueprints.
• Flame‑cutting and oxygen‑arc cutting equipment operation.
• Hoisting and lifting equipment handling.
