Site Trainer

About the role

The Site Trainer will ensure operational competency at the Fort Hills mining site through practical, classroom, and on‑the‑job training. You will work closely with equipment operators and maintenance crews to deliver safe, effective training that supports production goals.

Key responsibilities

• Verify that all personnel have completed required training, including CBLs, client‑specific modules, SOP reviews, and manufacturer training.
• Conduct equipment training and competency evaluations for excavators, haul trucks, motor graders, and other site machinery.
• Provide production and maintenance training as needed.
• Monitor operator performance via VIMS and telematics, offering coaching and corrective recommendations.
• Ensure company training programs are consistently applied and that equipment mentors follow standards.
• Maintain onboarding logs, update crew designations weekly, and submit timely weekly reports.
• Utilize the LMS for theory delivery, record‑keeping, and reporting.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of operating experience in a mining environment.
• At least 1 year operating large and small excavators, crawler tractors, motor graders, and haul trucks; shovel and support‑equipment experience is an asset.
• 1+ years of crew coaching, lead‑hand, or supervisory experience.
• Post‑secondary education or a Registered Professional Trainer designation is an asset.
• Strong written, verbal, and public‑speaking communication skills.
