Senior Procurement Specialist – 1 Year Term

About the role

The Alberta Securities Commission is seeking a Senior Procurement Specialist for a one‑year term. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will help build and refine the organization’s procurement function, ensuring alignment with government requirements and internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Support development and improvement of ASC procurement processes in line with Government of Alberta requirements, Canadian trade agreements, and ASC policy.
• Identify and recommend process improvements, standardization, and efficiencies across the procurement lifecycle.
• Collaborate with the Office of the General Counsel to guide divisions on procurement approaches, documentation, timelines, and compliance.
• Create and refine standardized procurement templates, workflows, evaluation tools, scoring guides, and turnaround timelines.
• Develop and maintain internal procurement tools such as the ASC procurement calendar and provide regular status updates to managers.
• Educate internal stakeholders on procurement policies, systems, and best practices.
• Maintain and distribute tracking for purchase orders, RFPs, PQRs, standing offers, and contracts, monitoring expiry dates and coordinating renewals.
• Support supplier relationship management, review vendor proposals for quality and compliance, and contribute to strategic sourcing analyses.
• Act as liaison between the Office of the General Counsel and other divisions to facilitate contract finalization.

Required profile

• Significant experience in procurement, preferably within a government or regulated environment.
• Familiarity with Government of Alberta procurement requirements and Canadian trade agreements.
• Ability to develop and implement procurement policies, templates, and tools.
• Strong analytical and communication skills to engage and educate internal stakeholders.
• Experience working closely with legal counsel on procurement and contract matters.
