Senior Procurement Officer – Municipal Government

About the role

The City of Whitehorse is seeking a Senior Procurement Officer to lead the acquisition of goods, services, and contracts that support municipal operations. This position provides expert procurement guidance, ensuring compliance with legislation, policies, and best practices while delivering cost‑effective solutions for the community.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate, prepare, monitor and maintain procurement activities for materials, supplies, equipment and contractual services.
• Support competitive procurement processes, including tendering, evaluation and award.
• Administer contracts and manage supplier relationships to ensure performance and value.
• Provide procurement expertise and advice to internal stakeholders.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function.

Required profile

• Degree in Business Administration or related field.
• Supply Chain Management designation or equivalent experience.
• At least five years of progressive procurement experience, including contract administration.
• Strong knowledge of procurement legislation, policies and best practices.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems.
