About the role

The Senior Manager, Research Programs leads high‑impact strategic initiatives that advance the Faculty of Medicine’s research enterprise at UBC. Working closely with senior leadership and external partners, the role translates research goals into actionable strategies and ensures successful delivery across multiple units.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of complex, cross‑faculty research initiatives, overseeing governance, resource planning, and implementation.
• Collaborate with senior leaders, internal stakeholders, and external partners to define objectives and align efforts.
• Manage cross‑functional teams through the full project lifecycle, including stakeholder engagement, strategic analysis, change management, and performance monitoring.
• Provide recommendations on feasibility, risk, and organizational impact to senior leadership.
• Ensure sustainable outcomes and integration of new frameworks, policies, and processes across affected units.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading large‑scale research or academic programs.
• Strong understanding of research administration, governance, and policy development.
• Ability to work independently with delegated authority and influence senior stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and change‑management skills.
