Veterinary Assistant – North Vancouver

About the role

Join Norgate Animal Hospital in North Vancouver as a Veterinary Assistant, providing essential support to veterinarians and compassionate care to our animal patients. This full‑time, permanent position offers a dynamic clinic environment where you will develop hands‑on skills in animal health and welfare.

Key responsibilities

• Collect samples and conduct basic laboratory tests.
• Handle, restrain, and care for animals undergoing treatment or surgery.
• Perform hoof trimming to prevent and treat lameness.
• Produce diagnostic radiographs.
• Assist veterinarians before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under veterinary direction.
• Provide routine dental care and assist with animal dentistry.
• Deliver nursing care, rehabilitation therapy, wound and bandage care.
• Offer client counseling on animal health and perform clerical duties as needed.

Required profile

• College or CEGEP education in a related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital.
• Availability to work evenings, nights, days, weekends, and overtime.
• Strong communication skills in English.
