Senior FDIR-FSW Systems Engineer

About the role

The Senior FDIR‑FSW Systems Engineer will lead fault detection, isolation and recovery (FDIR) activities for satellite platforms and payloads, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure robust in‑orbit performance.

Key responsibilities

• Define fault detection actions at system and subsystem levels and document platform‑payload FDIR interfaces.
• Work with operations to create contingency scenarios and align FDIR strategies with customer input.
• Develop FDIR test plans for FlatSat, DSS, and spacecraft‑level testing in partnership with FSW and AI&T teams.
• Review FMECAs, fault trees, and ICDs, providing feedback on detection, isolation, and recovery of failure modes.
• Support creation of operations procedures, manuals, and satellite test procedures to ensure alignment with FDIR strategy.
• Validate design compliance with FDIR requirements by reviewing block diagrams, ConOps, and requirements.
• Assess FDIR test artifacts, troubleshoot non‑compliances, and contribute to verification & validation matrices.
• Assist payload teams with payload‑level FDIR definition and support operations during in‑orbit test and anomaly resolution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of practical experience with LEO/MEO satellite systems.
• Strong cross‑functional collaboration and experience analyzing satellite subsystems.
• Familiarity with FMECAs and Fault Tree Analysis, and understanding of failure propagation.
• Ability to decompose system‑level failures to unit level and vice‑versa.
