Senior Engineer

About the role

Beacon, a Canadian healthcare AI company, is looking for its first senior engineer to own the end‑to‑end development of a clinical decision‑support platform. The role spans the full stack and focuses on building conversational AI, citation infrastructure, and clinician‑facing applications that make patient‑generated value portraits clinically defensible.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation, and production deployment of the platform across frontend, backend, and AI components.
• Own verification systems that ensure every clinical output is traceable to a specific patient statement.
• Make long‑term architectural decisions on system design, data handling, and cloud infrastructure.
• Translate clinical workflow requirements from advisors and pilot partners into technical specifications.
• Establish testing, monitoring, and incident‑response practices suitable for a regulated healthcare environment.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least one full 0‑to‑1 product cycle.
• Strong instinct for identifying and mitigating failure modes early in design.
• Passion for end‑of‑life care and the mission of preserving patients' authentic voices.
• Ability to work independently without a senior engineering mentor.

Required skills

• Full‑stack development (frontend and backend).
• Production experience with LLM‑powered features and conversational AI.
• Cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices (GCP, Amazon Bedrock).
• Systems architecture and data‑handling design.
