Senior Electrical Engineer

About the role

CBCL Limited is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead high‑voltage infrastructure projects within its Electrical Utilities & Renewables team. The position can be based in Fredericton or other Atlantic Canada offices and involves delivering design, consulting, and project management for substations, transmission, distribution, and renewable energy developments.

Key responsibilities

• Act as Project Manager and Technical Lead on multidisciplinary projects from feasibility through detailed design and implementation.
• Mentor junior engineers and technologists, fostering professional growth and innovation.
• Prepare technical reports, design drawings, specifications, tender documents and cost estimates.
• Ensure designs comply with safety standards, Canadian Electrical Code, CSA standards and industry best practices.
• Lead business development activities, client relationship management and proposal preparation.
• Conduct site reviews, assess existing infrastructure and oversee construction activities.

Required profile

• Electrical Engineering degree with eligibility for P.Eng. registration in Canada.
• Minimum 10 years of electrical engineering and project management experience.
• Proven ability to write proposals, manage budgets and schedules.
• Strong organizational, communication and time‑management skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel occasionally.

Required skills

• AutoCAD, PLS‑CADD, Revit, SKM, ETAP, CYME, PSCAD, PSS/E, WinIGS.
• Power system modeling: load flow, short‑circuit, protection coordination, arc‑flash studies.
• Medium‑ and high‑voltage distribution, protection & controls, system grounding, SCADA and telecommunications.
• In‑depth knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and CSA standards.
