Senior Early Childhood Educator

About the role

BGC Okanagan is hiring a temporary, full‑time Senior Early Childhood Educator for the Webber Road Daycare in West Kelowna. This position offers the chance to make a daily difference in the lives of children and their families while working in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Welcome new children and families, ensuring enrolment, medical, emergency, dietary, and parental information complies with licensing requirements.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate developmentally appropriate, age‑specific indoor and outdoor activities, creating daily schedules that balance active and quiet time.
• Ensure all activities follow BGC Okanagan policies and provincial childcare licensing regulations.
• Identify each child’s abilities, interests, and needs, developing individualized and group curricula and recommending referrals to specialists when needed.
• Maintain accurate records, progress reports, care plans, and statistics for children with disabilities.
• Model positive guiding techniques and developmentally appropriate activities for both children and team members.
• Attend to children’s physical needs, including diapering, toileting, and feeding.
• Administer first aid and medication according to established policies.
• Maintain a safe, healthy, culturally responsive environment, identifying and removing potential hazards.
• Build positive relationships with parents/guardians, communicating child development and inviting family participation in program planning.

Required profile

• Early Childhood Education Certificate with a current License to Practice.
• At least two years of recent, related experience (or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience).
• Successful completion of agency screening, including a clear criminal record check.
