Seafood Clerk (Part‑Time)

About the role

Join Metro’s seafood team as a part‑time clerk. You’ll keep the department fresh, well‑stocked, and inviting while helping customers choose quality seafood for their meals.

Key responsibilities

• Unload and organize seafood shipments in the cooler and prep areas.
• Stock counters and displays, ensuring proper rotation and freshness.
• Inspect seafood for quality and remove items that do not meet standards.
• Maintain proper storage conditions, temperature, and sanitation.
• Assist customers with product selection, cooking tips, and storage advice.
• Keep the department clean, sanitize work areas and tools, and dispose of waste safely.
• Monitor inventory, perform counts, and report discrepancies.
• Ensure accurate labeling, pricing, and update promotional signage.
• Follow safe handling procedures and report safety concerns.
• Support special promotions, events, or projects as assigned.

Required profile

• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to stock merchandise and create attractive displays.
• Knowledge of seafood products and attention to detail.
• Physical ability to lift 30‑50 lb and stand for extended periods.
• Retail or food‑handling experience is an asset.
• Availability for flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
