Satellite Command & Data‑Handling System Engineer

About the role

Our client is looking for a Satellite Command & Data‑Handling (C&DH) System Engineer to design, integrate, verify and support on‑board command, control and data management functions for current and next‑generation remote‑sensing and communications satellites. The engineer will own the C&DH functional architecture and act as technical authority throughout the spacecraft life‑cycle.

Key responsibilities

• Translate mission‑level requirements into C&DH functional and non‑functional specifications, produce system requirements, ICDs and maintain bidirectional traceability.
• Lead detailed design of on‑board processors, data‑buses (SpaceWire, MIL‑1553, CAN‑A, Ethernet), memory subsystems and I/O interfaces, and support software architecture for command sequencing, telemetry packetisation and FDIR.
• Coordinate with flight‑software, ground‑segment and TT&C teams to define uplink/downlink formats, RTOS configuration, APIs and ensure end‑to‑end data integrity.
• Develop verification plans, test matrices and execute unit, subsystem and spacecraft‑level C&DH tests, managing anomaly investigations and corrective actions.
• Mentor junior engineers, act as liaison with customers and external vendors, and contribute to standards, documentation and continuous‑improvement activities.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace or related field with at least 8 years of C&DH engineering experience on LEO/MEO/GEO platforms.
• Strong understanding of aerospace system engineering, space environment and orbit mechanics, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; French is a plus.
