Retail Store Department Head

About the role

The North West Company is seeking a Department Head to lead a retail store in Kashechewan, a remote First Nations community. You will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and ensuring excellent customer service in a rural supermarket environment.

Key responsibilities

• Hire, train, and schedule retail salespersons and clerks.
• Order merchandise and maintain inventory levels.
• Sell merchandise and address customer requests, complaints, and supply shortages.
• Prepare reports on sales volumes, merchandising performance, and personnel matters.
• Supervise and coordinate activities of workers to achieve store targets.

Required profile

• Secondary school graduation certificate.
• 1 to less than 2 years of retail supervisory experience.
• Team‑player attitude with strong interpersonal awareness.
• Willingness to work in a remote, rural First Nations settlement and relocate if needed.
