Regular Probationary Faculty – Learning Centre

About the role

The Douglas College Learning Centre is seeking a Regular Probationary Faculty member to support writing, content, and study‑skills tutoring across multiple campuses. Based primarily at the New Westminster Campus with a presence at Coquitlam, the faculty member will lead the peer‑tutor program for non‑writing courses in Commerce & Business, Health Sciences, and Science & Technology.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, evaluate, and continuously improve the peer‑tutor training program.
• Recruit, train, mentor, and assess peer tutors delivering writing, content, and learning‑skills support.
• Collaborate with Learning Centre staff in the tutor hiring process.
• Partner with academic faculty to design and deliver customized workshops and instructional resources.
• Work with students and faculty to identify learning needs and develop targeted support strategies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in an education‑related field or a discipline relevant to the supported programs.
• Experience in academic tutoring, peer‑tutor coordination, or similar educational support roles.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
