ASL (American Sign Language) Interpreter

About the role

We are seeking a qualified ASL (American Sign Language) Interpreter to provide sign language translation services within a school environment in Winnipeg. The role supports Indigenous learners and community partners by ensuring clear communication in both sign and spoken language.

Key responsibilities

• Translate sign language to spoken language and vice versa for individuals and small groups.
• Interpret language for classroom settings and educational events.
• Develop and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, Indigenous‑owned businesses and organizations.

Required profile

• College/CEGEP education.
• Certification from a provincial professional corporation for translators, terminologists and interpreters.
• Certification from the Association of Visual Language Interpreters of Canada (AVLIC).
• Willingness to travel regularly.
• Ability to pass criminal record and Child Abuse Registry checks.
• Experience is an asset.
